23 20ANNUAL REPORT2023 ANNUAL REPORT BOCATC.ORG 2 “Armed with strategic insights, the BOC will continue to build on its solid foundation and continue to meet the needs of ATs as future changes occur within our profession.” The BOC is reaching new heights! Reflecting on the incredible achievements the BOC made in 2023, I am moved by the dedication, hard work and innovative spirit of our BOC Board of Directors, volunteers, strategic partners and staff who drive this success. We continued to shape and advance the athletic training profession and worked together to support each Athletic Trainer (AT) on their path to success. Our overall mission is to provide exceptional credentials and standards the public can trust. This begins with providing quality high-stakes exams, as well as tools to uplift ATs in their pathway of professional development. Staying cutting-edge in these areas elevates ATs and their role within the health care spectrum. Defined by our vision of leading credentialing excellence globally, we strive daily to consistently deliver high-quality services and programs that meet ATs where they are, boosting their ability to not only complete certification requirements but advance their careers. Advances in 2023 centered around using data and technology to develop tools and systems that created efficiencies in the work we do. In addition, the BOC continued to create pathways and open doors for ATs to harness professional development. Programs such as the Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedics (BCS-O) credential, the International Arrangement (IA) for the athletic training and therapy profession, as well as further development of the Continuing Professional Certification (CPC) program are specific examples of this work. In addition to our ongoing work to enhance current programs and create new services during 2023, the BOC launched a futuristic view on long-term strategic planning. The Foresight Champions Task Force, a diverse group of volunteers each with strong leadership experience in health care, was created with the charge to complete a long-range environmental scan and create a forecast of the external environment for the athletic training profession – 10 years out. Changes in practice settings, care models, intergenerational shifts, technology, globalization and more create both challenges and opportunities for our profession. Armed with strategic insights, the BOC will continue to build on its solid foundation and continue to meet the needs of ATs as future changes occur within our profession. As we move into 2024, we have a clear direction and vision for how we can create opportunities and provide support to those we serve, and ultimately benefit the patients for whom they care. Best in health!
